Mission for Meaningful Change (MMC) is an established Somali humanitarian and development NGO not a newly founded entity or a start-up. MMC is the direct institutional evolution of Modern Management Company International (MMCI), which operated for 17 years as a registered not-for-profit national consulting entity before formally transitioning, in September 2026, into a registered not-for-profit Humanitarian and Development NGO.

This transition changed MMC’s legal form and mandate from an entity structured for advisory and technical-service delivery to one structured to directly execute humanitarian and development programming. It did not change the institution’s people, technical expertise, field presence, or values. MMC’s current capability is built directly on the institutional projects, technical delivery specialisms, and donor and INGO partnerships that MMCI established over 17 years of continuous operations. This project portfolio and institutional track record was executed under MMC’s predecessor status as a specialized not-for-profit national consulting entity, and is presented here as MMC’s own institutional history and operational memory, consistent with standard practice when an implementing partner evolves its legal form while retaining its core team and expertise.

Since 2019, the organisation has significantly scaled its institutional capacity to address acute, climate-induced, and socio-economic vulnerabilities across fragile operating environments in Somalia. MMC’s strategic focus centres on shifting displacement-affected youth, women, internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugee returnees, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) from a state of humanitarian dependency towards long-term economic inclusion and climate self-reliance a conviction now formalised as MMC’s mission: a Somalia where every community can move from vulnerability to self-reliance.
