17 Years of Experience. One Continuing Mission.

Since 2009, our journey in Somalia has been shaped by professional expertise, trusted partnerships, local knowledge and a commitment to meaningful results.

Mission for Meaningful Change (MMC) builds on seventeen years of institutional experience developed under its predecessor, Modern Management Company International (MMCI). During this period, the organisation worked across Somalia providing technical, advisory, research, monitoring and evaluation, organisational development, capacity strengthening, livelihoods and development support.

In September 2026, MMCI officially transitioned into Mission for Meaningful Change (MMC), marking the next chapter in an established institutional journey. This was an evolution of an existing organization, not the creation of a new one. The people, expertise, institutional knowledge, field experience, partnerships and relationships developed since 2009 continue within MMC, alongside a broader mandate for direct humanitarian and development action.

Saving Lives. Transforming Lives.

MMC's 17-year journey timeline from MMCI to MMC, 2009 to 2026.

From MMCI to MMC.

A journey built over seventeen years.

The evolution of MMC reflects the changing needs of Somalia and the organization’s growing capacity to respond to them.

From its beginnings as a national nonprofit consulting and technical services organization, MMCI developed a broad body of experience through work with government institutions, United Nations agencies, international and national NGOs, donors, civil society organizations and private-sector partners.

Over time, this experience expanded from technical advisory and institutional support into increasingly practical engagement in humanitarian and development programming, livelihoods, resilience, skills development, economic empowerment, climate resilience and community-focused initiatives.

The transition to MMC brings this experience into a new institutional framework designed to support direct humanitarian and development programming.

2009-2026 – Seventeen Years of Institutional Experience.

For seventeen years, the organisation has maintained continuous operations in Somalia.

During this period, MMCI developed multidisciplinary technical capabilities and built relationships with partners across the humanitarian, development, government, civil society and private sectors.

Its experience includes more than forty institutional projects and technical assignments covering areas such as education and workforce development, livelihoods and economic empowerment, climate resilience, policy advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, organisational development and capacity strengthening.

This accumulated experience provides the foundation on which MMC continues to build.

September 2026 – The Transition to Mission for Meaningful Change.

In September 2026, Modern Management Company International (MMCI) officially transitioned into Mission for Meaningful Change (MMC). The transition formalized a change in the organization’s name, legal form, mission and mandate. It reflects the organization’s evolution from a specialized national non-profit consulting entity into a registered nonprofit Humanitarian and Development NGO with a mandate to undertake direct humanitarian and development programming.

The transition preserves the institutional foundation built since 2009. The same institutional knowledge, technical expertise, experienced personnel, field relationships and understanding of Somalia continue to inform MMC’s work.

A New Chapter, Built on an Established Foundation.

From technical excellence to direct impact.

MMC enters its next chapter with a broader platform for turning experience into direct action. Our work now brings together humanitarian response, sustainable development, resilience, livelihoods, economic empowerment, institutional strengthening and locally led solutions.

The purpose is to connect immediate support with longer-term pathways towards recovery, resilience and self-reliance. This approach is reflected in the MMC Model of Change 2026–2030, which provides the strategic framework for the organization’s next phase.
